Module 11: Post-Arrest Care
This chapter discusses the 2020 AHA guidelines for immediate post-arrest care in addition to recommendations specific to pregnant or postpartum patients. Continuation of effective post-arrest care can lead to an improved likelihood of survival to discharge; therefore, it is critical for practitioners to know the immediate next steps after ROSC or death. This chapter also reviews factors to consider when deciding to stop resuscitation efforts during a maternal code and the application of ECPR for organ procurement when brain death occurs.
