Review of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Modifications for Pregnant Patients in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Life Support
Module 6: Review of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Modifications for Pregnant Patients in Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Advanced Life Support
As recommended by the AHA, the ACLS survey can be started either
after the BLS survey has been completed in an unconscious patient, or
immediately in the conscious but unstable patient.
While the BLS survey focuses primarily on high-quality CPR, the ACLS survey incorporates a differential diagnosis and applying advanced resuscitation techniques. The American Red Cross Advanced Life Support (ALS) also emphasizes an advanced survey and differential diagnosis to guide treatment. This chapter is aimed for ALS responders. This is not required for prehospital basic learners and can be optional participation.
